#PS4Share: Like this brand, how can you gain a huge online following for your own brand or business?

Friday: Collaborate and Innovate

FROM THE DESK OF MILES EVERSON:

In today’s digital world, a lot of social media platforms are available for online users’ perusal.

One of these platforms is Twitter.

In case you don’t know, posting or “tweeting” on Twitter is a bit limited as it only allows users to post captions with up to 280 characters―pretty short, especially if you’re going to use the platform for marketing, right?

Despite that, one brand still saw success in advertising on the said platform.

Read more to know how this video game brand optimized Twitter to engage with online users and raise awareness about its new product.

#PS4Share: Like this brand, how can you gain a huge online following for your own brand or business?

Digital marketing is widely used in promotional campaigns and strategies, especially now that social media is a big part of people’s lives all over the world.

A lot can be done online—post photos, share information, communicate with our peers and loved ones, and more.

It’s become a habit for most people to check their phones first thing in the morning, usually beginning with notifications from social media.

Among the social media platforms, Twitter stands out for the opportunity it provides users to share their thoughts and opinions in a matter of seconds.

TWITTER is an online platform that allows its users to post and communicate through the use of short messages called “tweets.”

This social network is popular for being scan-friendly since it’s easy to use for both the broadcaster and receiver.

Twitter implements a maximum character count of 280 characters for its tweets.

The reason for the character count is to keep tweets easy to read. It also promotes the use of clever and concise content.

Anyone can join Twitter!

All you have to do is sign up using your email to avail of the FREE ACCOUNT and you’re good to go!

You can send tweets every minute, every hour, every day, or as frequently as you like.

This platform is great for regular users because of the free features, and it’s also great for businesses that can opt to pay for ads to go the extra mile and gain more reach!

No wonder this video game brand chose to use Twitter to their advantage.

PlayStation®

First introduced in 1994 by Sony Computer Entertainment, this video game brand’s product has evolved into several versions to keep up with the changing times.

(From the first ever PlayStation console, to the new upcoming 2020 console, PlayStation 5!)

This brand has created 5 major consoles and 2 handheld consoles so far. All of which are designed differently with new and improved features, better than the one before it.

PlayStation continues to be flexible to the wants and needs of its customers.

It makes its customers feel included and as a result, 2.1 million units of the latest console released in the market (PS4) were sold within the first two weeks of its launch.

How did PlayStation become such a hit among its customers?

With the help of Twitter, PlayStation effectively reached and engaged with their customers.

As mentioned, each tweet is only limited to 280 characters or less.

A bit short, right?

You can’t really explain your point in paragraphs due to the restriction, but that wasn’t an issue for the brand.

PlayStation saw this as an advantage rather than a disadvantage.

Concise tweets and messages are exactly what is needed to effectively promote online!

The brand saw Twitter as one of the perfect channels to get their message across the gaming community.

Gamers can…

  • boast about their achievements in the games they played
  • interact and advise other gamers
  • share their likes and dislikes about different games or other products that PlayStation released
  • interact directly with PlayStation

Gamers can easily share and tweet almost anything.

The same goes for PlayStation and its interaction with gamers and the rest of its target market.

The brand can tweet and start a discussion without coming off as dragging or lengthy.

Through Twitter, PlayStation gets to monitor both good and bad feedback from their customers

Using the feedback, the brand is able to improve its products and services.

RESULTS: Customers get the full gaming experience and PlayStation’s brand reputation becomes even better.

In May 2016, PlayStation had the highest number of Twitter followers compared to other video game brands.

It was also during this year that the brand created a lot of online buzz.

– – Playstation ranked first among other top performing game brands by number of online article mentions.

As of September 2018, Sony’s PlayStation console was ranked first, among other video game brands, with 15.63 million Twitter followers.

Today, PlayStation has over 18.9 million Twitter followers and that number continues to grow.

PlayStation saw that it’s important to provide their customers with a platform to discuss as an online community.

Using Twitter as an advantage truly made it easier for PlayStation to BECOME MORE VISIBLE ONLINE!

Twitter can do the same for you. It’s a great medium to use when you want to get a message across to your particular market quickly and effectively.

You attain insights from people and also relay news, announcements, links, and other information and updates to them with brevity.

People won’t always read through long posts.

Other people prefer something that’s straight to the point and quick to read.

Keep your content short but sweet, no need for lengthy paragraphs.

Try giving this social media platform a shot when promoting your business!
