The hustle and bustle of independent professional life: Here’s what you can learn from Gary Vaynerchuk’s hustle! Gary Vaynerchuk: CEO of VaynerMedia Gary Vaynerchuk is known for his skills and expertise in building businesses. As an investor, capitalist, and CEO of his own company, Vaynerchuk knows that entrepreneurship is not that easy. To this day, Vaynerchuk has holdings in a few successful companies such as Tumblr, Uber, Facebook, and Twitter. Additionally, he has founded an investment fund worth USD 25 million. That is known as the VaynerRSE. As a businessman, Vaynerchuk is full of wise counsel. What are some of the factors that led him to achieve success in his career? Let’s take a look at Vaynerchuk’s life story… Vaynerchuk and his family immigrated to the US from Belarus in 1978. That time, he lived with 8 family members in a studio apartment in Queens, New York before relocating to Edison, New Jersey. At age 7 (yes, a very young age!) Vaynerchuk successfully started his own lemonade franchise. He was also able to sell thousands of dollars worth of baseball cards and toys throughout his high school career. As you can see, Vaynerchuk really has a knack for becoming a successful businessman in the future! By the time he was 14 years old, he joined his family business. When he saw the Internet as a great opportunity for businesses in the late 90s, he transitioned his father’s wine business into one of the first e-commerce platforms for alcohol in the country. This resulted in an explosive top-line growth! Vaynerchuk renamed his father’s business to “Wine Library” and raised its sales from USD 3 million to USD 60 million per year. In 2006, Vaynerchuk started one of the first long-from episodic video shows on YouTube called, “WineLibraryTV.” He produced an episode for the show almost every day for 5 years. Thanks to his charisma and ability to engage his community, he was able to land national TV appearances with Ellen DeGeneres and Conan O’Brien. In 2009, Vaynerchuk published his first book titled, “Crush It!” That book contained the foundation for his principles on media, marketing, and communication. That same year, he also founded his own company, VaynerMedia, with his younger brother, AJ Vaynerchuk. After 9 years, his company now has over 800 employees, providing services to big-time clients such as:
… and many more! While scaling his business, Vaynerchuk continued to write 4 more New York Times bestselling business books and eventually became one of the most sought-after public speakers. After another 5 years, he launched “#AskGaryVee,” a Q&A-style online show about business tips and advice, and the “DailyVee,” a full-blown blog documenting his life as a CEO and businessman. As of now, Vaynerchuk has over 12 million combined followers across his social media accounts. This just shows how influential he is at the moment! Vaynerchuk is a person who has achieved quite a lot in his life. Moreover, he is a well-known motivational speaker and is named as one of the ones to watch in the Fortune 40 under 40 list. As one of the leading global minds on what’s next in culture, relevance, and the Internet, Vaynerchuk is a forward-thinker in the business industry―someone who recognizes trends and patterns while also helping others understand how these factors affect markets and consumer behavior. Clearly, Vaynerchuk is an entrepreneur at heart. His experiences are something that you can gain inspiration from to help you accomplish your personal and career goals.
